The short answer

In Edge on Windows, open Privacy, search, and services, choose what to clear, select a time range and the cookie/site-data category, then confirm. Use the site-data list when only one website needs resetting.

Before you start

Removing cookies can sign you out and reset website preferences. Make sure you can sign back in. If one website is having a problem, remove only that site’s data when the browser provides that option.

Cookie data, browsing history, cached files, and saved passwords are separate categories. Review the selected categories before confirming.

Edge on Windows

  1. Open Settings and more, then Settings.
  2. Open Privacy, search, and services.
  3. Under clear browsing data, choose what to clear now.
  4. Choose a time range.
  5. Select Cookies and other site data, then choose Clear now.

You can also open the deletion dialog with Ctrl + Shift + Delete.

Remove cookies for one website

  1. Open Edge settings and go to Privacy, search, and services.
  2. Open Cookies, then the list of all cookies and site data.
  3. Search for the website.
  4. Expand its entry and use the delete control.

This is usually the least disruptive first step when only one website is broken.

Edge on Mac, Android, iPhone, and iPad

The Microsoft support page checked for this guide is marked for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Edge editions on other devices also provide browsing-data controls, but menu names can change independently. Open Edge settings, find privacy or browsing-data controls, select the cookie/site-data category, and verify other selected categories before confirming.

We will add platform-specific labels after Microsoft publishes or exposes a current support route for each platform.

After clearing cookies

Reload the affected website. You may need to sign in and choose preferences again. A website can store new cookies when you return, so deletion does not prevent future storage.

Security concern? Clearing local cookies does not revoke a copied sign-in session. Follow our cookie theft guide if you suspect account compromise.

Common questions

Will Edge sign me out?

Microsoft states that deleting cookies signs you out of most websites.

Can Edge delete cookies automatically?

Yes on desktop. Edge offers a “choose what to clear every time you close the browser” setting. Enable the cookie category only if repeated sign-outs are acceptable.
