How to clear cookies in Firefox
Clear Firefox cookies on desktop or Android, remove one website’s data, and keep unrelated browsing data.
The short answer
Firefox can remove data for the current site, selected sites, or all sites. On desktop, the current-site control is the quickest option. On Android, choose the cookie category in Delete browsing data.
Before you start
Removing cookies can sign you out and reset website preferences. Make sure you can sign back in. If one website is having a problem, remove only that site’s data when the browser provides that option.
Cookie data, browsing history, cached files, and saved passwords are separate categories. Review the selected categories before confirming.
Firefox on Windows, Mac, and Linux
Remove data for the current website
- Open the site.
- Select the padlock or shield beside the address.
- Choose Clear cookies and site data.
Remove all cookies but keep other data
- Open the menu, choose History, then Clear Recent History.
- Set the time range to Everything.
- Select cookies and site data. Deselect other categories you want to keep.
- Confirm.
Firefox on Android
- Open the three-dot menu and choose Settings.
- In the privacy and security section, choose Delete browsing data.
- Select cookies and any other categories you deliberately want to remove.
- Choose Delete browsing data, then confirm.
Firefox can also delete selected categories when you quit through its menu. Enable that separately only if you want repeated automatic deletion.
Firefox on iPhone and iPad
Mozilla’s public support route for Firefox on iPhone and iPad was not reliably accessible during this review, so we are not publishing menu labels that we could not verify. In Firefox, open its settings and look for data-management or browsing-data controls, then select cookies/site data carefully.
Until the route is verified, use Mozilla’s in-app Help link for the version installed on your device.
After clearing cookies
Reload the affected website. You may need to sign in and choose preferences again. A website can store new cookies when you return, so deletion does not prevent future storage.
Common questions
Does Firefox clear cache with cookies?
It depends on the categories you select. Mozilla’s general clear-data route may select both cookies/site data and cached files. Deselect cached files if you want to retain them.
Can I remove only one site?
Yes on desktop. The current-site shortcut is useful when a login or preference is broken on one website.
