How to clear cookies in Safari
Clear Safari cookies on Mac, iPhone, or iPad while choosing whether to keep browsing history.
The short answer
On Mac, open Safari’s Privacy settings and manage website data. On iPhone or iPad, use Safari’s Website Data settings to clear cookies while keeping history, or use Clear History and Website Data for a broader cleanup.
Before you start
Removing cookies can sign you out and reset website preferences. Make sure you can sign back in. If one website is having a problem, remove only that site’s data when the browser provides that option.
Cookie data, browsing history, cached files, and saved passwords are separate categories. Review the selected categories before confirming.
Safari on Mac
- Open Safari.
- Choose Safari → Settings, then open Privacy.
- Select Manage Website Data.
- Select one or more websites and choose Remove, or choose Remove All.
Apple warns that removing website data may sign you out, change website behavior, and affect cookie data used by other apps.

Safari on iPhone and iPad
Keep your browsing history
- Open Settings, select Apps, then Safari.
- Open Advanced → Website Data.
- Select Remove All Website Data, then confirm.
Clear history, cache, and cookies together
- Open Settings → Apps → Safari.
- Select Clear History and Website Data.
- Choose the timeframe and confirm.
Apple says the combined option does not change AutoFill information. The first route is the better choice when you want to keep browsing history.

After clearing cookies
Reload the affected website. You may need to sign in and choose preferences again. A website can store new cookies when you return, so deletion does not prevent future storage.
Common questions
Can Safari remove data for one website?
On Mac, use Manage Website Data and select the site. On iPhone or iPad, Apple documents removal of all website data separately from deleting selected entries in browsing history. History deletion alone is not the same as clearing that site’s stored cookie data.
Should I turn on Block All Cookies?
Apple warns that websites may stop working, including sign-in and other features. Use deletion for troubleshooting; consider tracking protection separately.
